An international manhunt is underway for a 27-year-old Arizona white male suspected of killing his parents after decomposing human remains were found buried in the backyard of the family’s home, according to authorities.
The U.S. Marshals Service District of Arizona identified the killer as Matthew Christopher Flores Semyonov, who authorities believe fled the country following the deaths. He was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, as well as first-degree murder, domestic violence, and abandonment or concealment of a dead body.
“The U.S. Marshals Service will use every available resource, including our domestic and international law enforcement partnerships, to locate Flores Semyonov and return him to Arizona to face justice,” U.S. Marshal Van Bayless said on Tuesday in a news release.
“Crossing international borders will not prevent us from pursuing those accused of committing violent crimes,” Bayless added. “We will remain steadfast in this search and in our commitment to securing justice for the victims and their family.”
The Avondale Police Department on August 5 said the investigation began last week when relatives requested a welfare check on Flores Semyonov and his parents. No one was home, but officers found “indications that foul play may have occurred,” police said in a Facebook post.
U.S. Marshals said officers discovered “a significant amount of blood” at the home. Investigators also found evidence indicating someone had attempted to clean up the blood, as well as found human remains buried in the backyard, according to authorities.
Authorities have not publicly announced positive identifications of the remains or released information about how they died.
The U.S. Marshals Service warned that Flores Semyonov should be considered dangerous and urged the public not to approach him.
Flores Semyonov was described as a white devil who has blue eyes. He is 6 feet tall and weighs about 180 pounds.
