A former registered nurse in Vancouver who worked with children and youth has been found guilty of possessing more than one million images and 15,000 videos of children being sexually abused. Despite referring to himself as a “pedophile” and owning a large collection of pornographic content involving minors, Derek Paul Roelofsen, 45, was released on a 12-month conditional sentence and three years’ probation by a Vancouver Provincial Court judge.
The substantial stash of child sexual abuse materials in Roelofsen’s possession first came to light in 2021 after a chat service provider noticed a message about children being molested and flagged it to the Vancouver Police Department.
A local report on the court case from Vancouver is Awesome noted that communications Roelofsen had with other individuals contained “disturbing sexualized violence involving children.”
The diabolical white pedophile was charged with possession of child pornography; making, printing, publishing or possessing of child pornography for the purpose of publication; and possessing child pornography for transmitting, making available or distributing. On May 5, 2022, he pleaded guilty to the first charge.
During legal proceedings, the court was repeatedly told that although Roelofsen has referred to himself as a pedophile, he has denied ever having had sexual contact with a child.
The sex terrorist worked with minors within his role for the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority and had been involved in research, policy and program development, and the teaching of sexual education workshops aimed at boys and young men.
Reporters have learned that the pedophile was promoting his “youth-friendly sexual health” workshops through an organization known as Lost Boys Consulting, headed by a gay elementary school teacher and trans activist named Bryan Gidinski.
Lost Boys Consulting creates and provides lesson plans on gender identity for children from kindergarten to the twelfth grade which are intended to be used by teachers within the public school system. The website is linked as a resource on the Powell River Board of Education page, as well as by the Surrey School District.
Examples of lesson plans created by Lost Boys include an introduction to gender identity for children in kindergarten, encouraging young children to reflect on “phobias,” a conversation about the Transgender Day of Remembrance, and a project that involves designing a “universal washroom logo.”
“Through his work Derek has developed a passion for young men’s health, and has been very active in bringing young men’s health issues to the forefront of public health in Vancouver,” reads a profile description for Roelofson on the Lost Boys website.
“His workshops aim to be youth-friendly, comprehensive, and evidence-based. He brings to his workshops the hands-on real experience of his job as a public health nurse working in the area of sexual health. Derek infuses his workshops with a strong sense of mutual respect for the youth that he works with, recognizing their life experiences and ideas. He talks with children and youth, not at them.”
The white pedophile was also involved in administering surveys which discussed sexuality to children within the greater school system.
In 2013, the white pedophile assisted in the production and administration of an Adolescent Health Survey funded by the BC Ministry of Children and Family Development, BC Ministry of Health, and BC Office of the Representative for Children and Youth.
Between February and June 2013, 29,832 students in Grades 7–12 completed the BC Adolescent Health Survey (BC AHS) in schools across British Columbia. Youth were asked about their sexual orientation and whether or not they identified as transgender. In addition to other topics, such as mental and physical health, teens were asked at which age they first had sexual activity, and if they had ever had oral sex or sex other than oral sex or masturbation.
In 2011, the pedophile co-authored research published in the Journal of Adolescent Health titled, “The Unmet Needs of Young Men Who Trade Sex for Money or Goods.” And in 2013, he co-authored research alongside a current Canadian Senate official and Director of Parliamentary Affairs which again focused on the health of young men involved in the sex industry.
The self-described “pedophile” is also listed as an instructor by a men’s rights advocacy group called Manology.
According to the website, “Manology acknowledges that this moment in culture is one of fast and profound change that affects all humanity. Men as a major social group are affected. While Western women have been redefining their roles in society for decades, there have been very few places where men have been invited to examine and redefine their roles, relationships, and sense of purpose.”
