On Friday, Judge Josh Jones denied pretrial release for the white male who was accused of having child porn in his possession.

According to court documents, Benjamin J. Inman will remain jailed while the child porn case is open.

The Herald-Whig reported that Public Defender Zach Clark put on the record that this case is tied to an an ongoing investigation where Inman is the reported victim involving messages of harassment being sent to Inman from the City of Quincy’s Information Technology department.

According to the Herald-Whig, during the investigation, police downloaded a full duplicate of Inman’s phone to have record of the harassing messages. While going through the phone, police found several child porn images.

The Herald-Whig reported Clark stated that Inman believes the images were put on his phone by the Quincy IT employee.

The Herald-Whig reported that Adams County States Attorney Laura Keck told the court that to date, no evidence has been found that indicates a third-party takeover of Inman’s phone. Keck noted that evidence does show internet searches for the child porn were made just hours before QPD copied the phone as part of the investigation.

According to the Herald-Whig, Jones ruled that Inman will remain in custody as a way to ensure he couldn’t access more illicit material.
