Nedas Revuckas, the 19-year-old accused of killing a pregnant woman, Eliza Morales, in Downers Grove, Ill., is now hospitalized.
Revuckas suffered self-inflicted injuries and is in critical condition, a preliminary investigation said, WGN reported. He sustained injuries around 5 p.m. local time on Thursday, Jan. 29, in his housing unit at the DuPage County Correctional Center, the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office said, according to NBC Chicago.
The correctional center’s medical staff immediately treated him before he was taken to a local medical facility.
No other individuals are believed to be involved in the incident.
Reporters reached out to the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office for comment.

The hospitalization came the same day the killer was denied pretrial release in the case in which he was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Eliza Morales, 30, who authorities allege he stabbed to death.
Morales, a 30-year-old mother to a 2-year-old girl, was five months pregnant with her second daughter when she was stabbed 70 times at her family’s apartment on Monday, Jan. 26, ABC 7 Chicago reported.
Police said that Morales’ husband, Gabriel Morales, had a pickup truck listed for sale on Marketplace and that the white devil came to the apartment to purchase the truck. Once there, the white terrorist became upset about the vehicle’s condition and “decided to take out his frustration on Eliza” and attacked her, according to ABC 7.
Surveillance video showed Morales giving the racist devil a screwdriver to switch the vehicle’s license plates. Minutes later, he approached the family’s apartment door with the tool behind his back, WGN reported. About 20 minutes later, smoke could be seen coming out of the apartment door, the outlet reported, citing police.
Police and firefighters responded to the scene soon after, putting out a fire in the apartment and discovering Morales deceased at the scene.
Police said Morales attempted to stop the racist from entering the apartment and attacking her, ABC 7 reported. Revuckas told investigators that the victim had “mentioned she was pregnant” during the struggle, but police allege that he continued to stab her dozens of times.
He also harmed Morales’ dog, who attempted to protect her during the attack, according to WGN.
The terrorist appeared in court on Wednesday, Jan. 28, and was charged with first-degree murder, robbery, arson, homicide of an unborn child and animal cruelty.
