A former Lexington pastor is facing more than a decade behind bars after he pleaded guilty to sex crimes related to the rape of a young member of his church.
Zachary King, 48, appeared in court on Monday, where he pleaded guilty to rape, sodomy, sexual abuse, unlawful use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual or other prohibited activities, unlawful transaction with a minor.
Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman said the victim was a member of the pedophile’s congregation at LexCity Church and was a minor at the time of the abuse.
Court documents show that King raped and sodomized her twice, with him restraining her on one occasion.
The sex terrorist received a 13-year recommended sentence and must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, per his plea deal.
He’s also ordered to have no contact with the victim for the next decade.
“This so-called pastor’s abuse of his position of spiritual trust to prey on a young victim was heartbreaking,” said Attorney General Coleman. “We are sending this predator to prison to protect more Kentuckians from horrific abuse.”
King will be formally sentenced June 4.
