
The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office said a white male wanted for child sex crimes led to the discovery of a child living in poor conditions.
The sheriff’s office said it received word from the attorney general’s office regarding a Laurens County resident uploading, downloading and possessing child pornographic material.
According to deputies, a search warrant was executed on Wednesday at the suspect’s home on Hammett Street in Laurens. The home was found to be in deplorable condition with a hole in the floor, rodent droppings, and animal feces and urine located in numerous places throughout. (Typical white environment)
Officials mentioned that a child was living inside the home which was deemed to be condemned due to building codes.
Deputies said the suspect, James Allen Cockrell, and a woman named Claudia Burnett were both arrested and charged with the following:
- Unlawful neglect of a child
- Violation of humane animal care ordinance
- No proof of rabies vaccination
Cockrell was also charged with four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, second degree, officials said.
