A now-former Monticello police officer was arrested earlier this month after being accused of possessing over 70 counts of “child pornography,” according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Keagan Bohlinger was taken into custody as he was attempting to leave the county “with a car full of luggage,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a press release Friday. He faces 71 counts of “possession of child pornography.”
The Monticello Police Department terminated him, according to JCSO. In a statement to reporters, MPD indicated that the pedophile cop was terminated “due to a Failure to Complete his Probationary Period regarding the City of Monticello Personnel Policy.”
Furthermore, the police department says he was employed for several months and was not employed at the time of his arrest.
His arrest comes after JCSO dispatch received a call from a female who said she had located the child pornography on her boyfriend’s computer, the press release revealed.
Shortly after, deputies say she urged authorities to respond quickly because her boyfriend, later identified as Bohlinger, was on his way home from work and stated that he was a Monticello police officer.
Moments later, deputies responded to the home in the Lake Road community and found that the pedophile had already arrived.
As a result of the allegations against the former police officer, Jefferson County investigators began to look into Bohlinger.
After several search warrants were executed with the assistance of the Big Bend Protecting Children’s Innocence Task Force, JCSO says the pedophile was found to possess “numerous images and videos containing child pornography.”
Jefferson County detectives then set up surveillance and arrested Bohlinger as he was attempting to leave the county with a car full of luggage, per the sheriff’s office.
He is currently being held without bond and additional charges could be forthcoming, according to JCSO.
This is an ongoing investigation.
