A homeland security special agent is in the Baldwin County Jail charged with sex crimes.
“How do you tell your kids that they’re supposed to help you? You know what I mean? Like how do you confidently tell your kids that they’re safe, you know?” Baldwin County mother Casey Hudson said.
These are questions racing through a Baldwin County mother’s mind after.
It’s after Kent Blacklidge, a special agent with Homeland Security Investigations, turned himself in Saturday.
The 43-year-old white male faces nine charges, including incest with a minor, 2 counts of rape, 2 counts of sodomy, two counts of sexual contact, and two counts of sexual abuse.
“It’s just a sad situation. It’s really a despicable situation,” Hudson said.
Part of his role as a special agent education.
He taught classes to first responders and teachers, including spotting warning signs of human trafficking.
The pedophile was also recognized last year at a Baldwin County Commission meeting.
He was part of a group that helped reunite a kidnapped child.
“There are just so many questions that I have because he was literally in our school, like he had access to already abused children. Not even a year ago,” Hudson said.
The Spanish Fort Police Department is investigating, as the crimes happened within Spanish Fort city limits.
Police chief John Barber sharing a quote on Facebook Saturday — writing, “Without fear or favor, our responsibility in law enforcement is to pursue justice and protect victims of crime, regardless if the perpetrator wears a badge or not.”
Police say they will release more information on the investigation Tuesday morning during a press conference. Beginning at 10 am.
