On Thursday, the Bentonville Police Department (BPD) announced the arrest of a local white photographer who was using artificial intelligence to create child sexual abuse material, or CSAM.
A release from BPD said that on June 10, police arrested 43-year-old Russell Edward Bloodworth on 100 counts of distributing, possessing, or viewing CSAM, as well as one count of possessing a controlled substance.
BPD said officers received a tip over the weekend that CSAM was being generated using Grok AI, an artificial intelligence chatbot developed by xAI, a startup founded by Elon Musk.
The release said Bloodworth owns Russell Bloodworth Photography, which is connected to the tip and the ongoing investigation.
Bentonville police said clients of Bloodworth and his business who think their photographs may have been used in these alleged crimes should reach out to police.
