Harrison County Sheriff Brandon Fletcher said that a tip from Child Protective Services led to an investigation of a county resident’s possible abuse of children.
Kevin Forrest Barnett, 43, of Hallsville, was arrested on Oct. 7 after an investigation into the accusations.
Fletcher said that Texas CPS contacted the sheriff’s criminal investigations division (CID) with concerns about a child victim being photographed inappropriately. Shortly after that, Terrell police alerted CID about a cyber tip from the North Texas Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, suggesting potential exploitation of a child in Harrison County.
The cyber tip was investigated and the white devil pictured above was identified as the suspect in possession of multiple videos containing child pornography. They got an arrest warrant and three hours later, he was arrested.
As the investigation continued, a search warrant of the pedophile’s home was executed, and law enforcement found evidence to support the allegations of aggravated sexual assault of a child, and an arrest warrant was issued for that, as well, Fletcher said.
The child rapist was booked into the Harrison County Jail on possession of child pornography >= 50 depictions or videos. He was also booked on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child. His bonds total $400,000 and he remains in the Harrison County Jail.
